The Infidel, written by David Baddiel, is a ‘comedy of epic ethnic proportions’ about a salt-of-the-earth london muslim who discovers he’s adopted and jewish.

Our involvement in in this project began with a title treatment and brand guidelines book. This book has informed all marketing material for the film, from this sales poster to the films titles. You’ll see few Indie’s with such brand impact.

Directed by Nick Whitfield. Skeletons is a fantastic surrealist comedy about two travelling salesmen in the business of cleaning skeletons out of people’s closets.

The brand we developed for the film’s titles was a fantastic starting point for the print campaign.

The festival poster is an introduction to the film’s loveable leads.

The goggles in the film’s title are worn by our protagonists during the extraction process…

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse…

Santa’s stocking has been full of ‘Nintendo’ products over the years. Gail Lingard has sent us this play on the ‘Nintendo’ logo called ‘Leave luck to Heaven’ which is the name ‘Nintendo’ translated from Japanese. Gail is the founder and creative director of Strive Design.

A cheeky short film called “Eighteen (An adult film about censorship)” by Ben Cook. Ben is the creative director and founder of Radio Design.

Today’s image is a little slice of the East End, by Lara Gibson. Lara is an architect working for Design for London, and teaches an undergraduate architecture unit at London Metropolitan University.

How to make ‘fifteens’ in fifteen steps and fifteen seconds, one Northern Irish treat everyone should have this Christmas. Lewis Kinneir, the chef, is an architect currently working for Carmody Groarke.

Todays image was created by Heather Pollington. Heather is a graphics supervisor for film and is currently on location in Croatia – hence todays beautiful offering.

Directed by Jon Wright. As part of our greater work on the online campaign, we got our cast to generate a mass of graffiti on the walls of a toilet.

We then used and embellished this graffiti by channeling our inner teenagers (this was frighteningly easy!) to create a school desk-scape etched with the bored doodles liberally interspersed with gore and genitalia. Add some fast cuts, blurs and pans courtesy of animator extraordinaire Mr Ben Cook et voila… Tormented.

It perfectly tops and tails the teen horror and has even produced column inches of its own in film reviews.

The end sequence is less frantic, more sombre and bloodied, taking it’s cue form the films closing scene.

A very enjoyable identity job to brand 2 companies under the same visual umbrella – Major Hour Music and Minor Hour Films.

Starting from the fantastic client brief of ‘Tim Burton meets Pathé’ we created typographic clockfaces of both company names as a way of enabling them to work together or separately whenever necessary.

This is the animated sting for Minor Hour Films. It will feature at the start of all of their movies.

Directed by Todd Haynes. It was a huge honour to work on this interpretation of Bob Dylan’s life in which he is played by, amongst others Cate Blanchett, Heath Ledger and Richard Gere. The challenge to represent 4 major movie stars as a single musical icon was relished and risen to. With a little help from our friends Mondrian and Warhol.

Directed by Mike Leigh. The challenge with this poster was to represent the dark side of the film’s controversial story without a visually dark or depressing campaign. We created an image that portrays the parallel lives of Leigh’s title character using a fresh palette and subtle, relevant textures.

Directed by Fenton Bailey & Randy Barbato. We developed the UK adaptation for this very entertaining doc about the world’s most famous porno.

You may have seen the brilliant adverts that inspired the quiz on your tele. Well, the evil geniuses behind these at 4Creative approached us to turn this into a real game. OK, a real, virtual game.

Now, virtual pub quizzes can be typified as either having quality questions in a distinctly low-tech, un-atmospheric surround or they’re high on cheesy bells and whistles with questions that don’t particularly challenge or inspire. Our aim was to produce a high standard quiz in a context that reflects the production values we associate with the TV ads and with the More4 channel.

And thus the More4 Really Quite Clever pub quiz was born. Play on your own, play against another customer or challenge one of the More4 team to a fiendishly difficult specialist knowledge quiz.

The Twitterati were enthused by its sheer addictiveness, citing hours of revision and work lost. Go on, have a game, though make sure your boss isn’t watching. Oh, and look out for the odd cameo in drag in the loos… you’ll never watch Channel 4 News in the same light again.

David Bond lives in one of the most intrusive surveillance states in the world. He decides to find out how much private companies and the government know about him by putting himself under surveillance and attempting to disappear… The poster’s job was to represent the thrilling chase!

Directed by Keith Fulton & Louis Pepe. We developed an extensive online and print campaign to promote this brilliant cult Mock-Rock-Doc about a conjoined twin punk band!

Directed by Marc Evans. Staying loyal to the film’s colour palette and continuing the Director’s decision not to use any cuts to black we created a beautiful set of animated titles for this incredibly moving film about grief and friendship in a snowy Canadian town.

We were then able to evolve our designs into the UK poster campaign.

Directed by John Amiel. We developed the strategically and visually elegant online campaign for ‘Creation’ – the epic story of Charles Darwin’s personal and professional 10 year journey to publish ‘On the Origin of Species’ starring Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connelly.

The site evolved (of course) from a simple production hub that brought together all ‘Creation’ and ‘Darwin’ related online and social network activity into one official thread alongside the production assets as they were released…

… to a fully fledged campaign site 2 months prior to release that offered users a more immersive experience. You are invited to navigate the extensive production assets with an elegant magnifying device.

We also invited users to submit facts about Darwin to our interactive map. Did you know Darwin once ate an owl?

Now this is an International Sales and Financing company with style. The marque we developed for them visually represents the film making journey from the straight edged, rational world of financing to the fantastical side of story-telling (it goes from straight to curly, making the ‘E’ on the way). A flamboyant, conceptual logo AND they let us use neon.

Hugo is a food writer and menu planner for places like the Ivy and Soho House. He came to us for a website but in the end we developed a complete one-man brand featuring the very succinct fork and pen logo and re-developed all his print materials too.

The site, a very graphic table setting that moves around to reveal sections, is managed entirely by the client through our easy-peasy CMS.

A store, showroom, consultancy and green hub! We relished the challenge this brief posed and worked closely with the client to develop a simple, playful marque for the launch of their west-London flagship store.

We went on to develop their guidelines, stationery, signange and promotional literature… all FSC approved.

Our printers used only vegetable based inks.

The letter head is double sided to save paper.

This is a template for how we think a successful online campaign should operate. We started gathering and creating content during production taking advantage of the energetic young cast.

We built them a toilet / confessions cubicle in which they gossiped, sang, graffitied and generally confessed all… gave them Flip cameras to capture improvised in-character pieces… all the kind of candid, behind-the-scenes insight their teen fan-base craved.

We rolled this content out in the months up to release via a blog, a podcast and of course the website, featuring a suitably sassy yet dark immersive interface.

Here fans could grab their favourite character’s content in the form of a mobile phone widget.

We love consistency. Social network pages were all branded consistently giving the presence of a much bigger film. We were even able to use some of our stars cubicle graffiti to create the titles…

The home of Asian Cinema in the UK. This magazine is the brainchild of the Firecracker festival team, conceived to present a 24/7 presence for the growing interest in Asian films. We worked with them from the outset to create a unique, visually striking identity.

The Firecracker branding takes its influence from Eastern calligraphy, using ancient brush strokes to render modern symbols as well as the ‘hwa’ (which represents fire) in their logo.

This design plays throughout their literature and online presence, enabling Firecracker to ‘own’ images, navigation and actions.

We were brought in to develop this site at pre-production and as a result were able to run around the set gathering materials, generate exclusive EPK footage and generally live and breathe the project. We had input from Sir Kenneth Branagh, the costume designer, the cast and everyone in between. We then got to work creating an amazing collection of playful musical, educational content. Our brief from Celluloid Dreams was to create a “place to play” and we really hope you do.

This amazing viral application taps into the infectious nature of laughter and invites users, through a central site or through an embeddable player, to watch a laughter viral which will also record their responses and submit them to the laughter chain. This project was awarded a D&AD Silver pencil.

Directed by Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza. The site for this hit Spanish horror film enables the user to pick up the camera and go on their own journey around the quarantined Barcelona apartment where the film is set. We built this journey entirely from re-editing the actual film so the user is inadvertently exposed to masses of exclusive footage.

The site won an FWA award, Creative Showcase and received masses of interest from all around the world. Nothing like a bit of dynamic blood splatters to get people going!

Client: Metrodome. Agency: Franki&Jonny.

Directed by Niels Mueller. On 22 Feb 1974 a middle class American man, a husband and a father, hatched a plot to fly a passenger jet into the Whitehouse to wipe out Richard Nixon. Sean Penn brought this man, Sam Bicke, to life in Niels Mueller’s film. For the UK release, we placed this story in the wider context of modern US history, allowing the viewer to build their own picture of the time.

Our unique interface delivers a wide calendar of events across 80 years. From patriotism and self-help in the multi-level societies of the 40’s and 50’s through the Nixon years and the loss of innocence right up to 9/11 and on to the film’s release. To support the website and drive traffic to the viral we also designed our own little red books – full of pertinant self-help tips and the ramblings of Sam himself.

The site won an FWA and Creative Showcase awards, the book got a journalist arrested on the tube.

Creating the website for a film based on the faked Roswell tapes and starring everybody’s favourite TV stars Ant&Dec, was a chance to do some really fun, silly stuff…

The interface is inspired by the fake alien autopsy scene in the film – the navigation allows you to carve up an alien with a butter knife to find bowling and blagging games, viral quizzes and downloads.

It was awarded FWA Site of the Day and is also included in a book called ‘A Guide to Online Success’ published by Taschen.

Directed by David Schwimmer. We designed the end titles for this smash UK hit starring Simon Pegg and Thandie Newton. Working closely with the Director we opted for creating hand crafted typographic running footprints for all the key cast and creative credits… which didn’t take long at all.

Client: Mumia Productions. Agency: Franki&Jonny

Directed by Marc Evans. This shocking documentary needed an image that would set up the films unusual premise. The film’s narrator, Will, was born on the day that Mumia Abu-Jamal was arrested under dubious circumstances for murder. Aged 25 Will decided to make a film about this man, still sitting on death row, by going to meet him and finding out more about the poitical climate in Philadelphia 25 years ago.

So how do you set this up graphically? A cake that casts the shadows of prison bars with its candles of course. With thanks to Patisserie Valerie.

Directed by Tom Kalin. We designed this sumptuous treat for the film based on the true story of Barbara Daly, played by Julianne Moore. An ambitious socialite who married above her social status into the bakelite plastics fortune but ended up having a rather questionable relationship with her own son.

We focused on this relationship and depicted the familial unease by visually heightening similarities between their characters to create a creepy reflection of each other.

Directed by Jackie Oudney. These Jean-Luc Godard inspired titles are MASSIVE. Sadly we didn’t get to meet Cantona the film’s star, despite claiming he was integral to the design process.

The re-branding project for this hi-end stock library covered everything in their portfolio, from stationery and advertising to the website and viral marketing. The core concept uses the brand name as a ‘view finder’ through which you can see any of their images. This provides for a wide range of tactical applications. We get to pick the right image for everything… always a pleasure.

Directed by Atom Egoyan. The key issue here was to avoid the love triangle usually suggested by 3 characters on a poster. This film, starring Colin Firth and Kevin Bacon and a serious skeleton in the closet, is more about celebrity obsession and murder.

We loved the tube versions of these with a half naked Alison Lohan pressed up against the wall as the commuters rushed by.

Tapisodes… are bringing comic strips to the iPhone. As the logo suggests you tap, tap, tap your way through each animated comic.

We created the titles for the 6 part series that took ‘Northern Lights’ to the big smoke to become ‘City Lights’. Using ‘Union Square’ as the core typeface and lots of strategically positioned strip lights we created a sophisticated identity for the ITV show that drew its influences from London cabs and street signs.

We love this film, so did BAFTA (The Banker won a BAFTA for best short film in 2005). Drawing on the main theme of the film, sperm donation, we gave every cast and crew member a barcode identity. We did away with the endroller and made everyone that worked on it part of The Banker gene pool.

Directed by Gerald McMorrow. This poster offers a window into the futuristic, faith-dominated metropolis of Meanwhile City, the setting for this modern gothic fairytale.
